Trip to Saimaa

Viime kesäisten vieraiden retkikertomus jatkuu, tällä kertaa Saimaan rannalta.

I'm continuing story of my visitors from England, this time the visited Lake Saimaa.

Rouva Hippo tyttärensä kanssa sai kunnian vierailla Talvioden kanssa Saimaan rannalla Lappeenrannassa.

Mrs. Hippo and her daughter had the honor to take the Periwinkles to visit Lappeenranta. Lappeenranta is a town on the lakeshore of Saimaa, the largest lake in Finland. They did some shopping and visited the lakeshore.

Kesällä rannalla on hiekkapatsaiden näyttely. Viime vuonna teemana oli Kalevala. Rannalla oli useita upeita teoksia, näytän vain muutaman. Tässä sotka, jonka munasta maailma Kalevalan mukaan syntyi.
In summertime the lakeshore has an exhibition of sand statues. That year the theme was the national epic of Finland, Kalevala . According to our national epic, the world was created from an egg by an goldeneye.

Mack innostui sotkan selässä olevista hiekkataloista - 'Mabel, miten olisi kesämökki täältä?'
Mack was thrilled about the little houses on the back of the goldeneye - 'Mabel, how about a summer cottage?'

This is a statue of Väinämöinen, the main character of Kalevala, playing kantele. He has magical singing skills, he's the hero of the story and looks for wife.

Mabelilla, Mackilla ja Hipoilla oli oikein hauskaa Lappeenrannassa. Päiväkin oli näin kaunis!
Mabel, Mack and the Hippos had such a fun on their trip to Lappeenranta. It was a beautiful day for them.
