Kimallusta / Some sparkle and bling

Winter Wonderland haastaa tällä viikolla näyttämään kimalletta ja kiiltävyyttä tällä viikolla. Kohokuvioin kimaltelevan kultaisen kartongin lumihiutaleiseksi ja lisäsin keskelle muutaman huopaisen joulutähden. Joulutähtien keskellä on tekotimantit, kultaisessa paneelissa puolihelmiä, ja korttipohjassa kultatussilla tehtyjä pisteitä, joten eiköhän kimallus riitä!

This week Winter Wonderland challenges us to show some sparkle and bling. I embossed a sparkling gold paper with Darice (?) snowflake embossing folder and added few felt poinsettias to it. There blings on the poinsettias and some red half pearls on the paper, and dots of golden marker on the cardbase. Lots of shine on this one!

Punatulkkuja / Bullfinches

Jouluisen lautasliinan suloiset punatulkut pääsivät kierrätykseen joulukortissa. Kiinnitin lautasliinan korttiin kaksipuoleisella teipillä ja koristeeksi riitti muutama ääriviivatarra ja stanssatut kiekurat. Osallistun Creative Knockouts haasteeseen.

I found a Christmas napkin with beautiful bullfinches image. I adhered it to the card with double sided tape. I kept the decorations simple with few star stickers and die cut swirls. I enter the Creative Knockouts challenge.

Puinen yllätys / Wooden surprise

Lapsena Kinder yllätysmunista löytyi toisinaan puisia kulkuvälineitä: veneitä, junia ja lentokoneita. Vuosien varrella muutama on löytynyt lisää kirpputoreilta. Vasemmalla olevan lentokoneen löysin ilman siipiä, mutta ongelma oli helposti korjattu puupalasella. Nyt nämä nostalgiset puulelut pääsevät nukkekotiin leluiksi :)

When I was a child, Kinder suprise eggs had sometimes wooden vehicles inside them. Over the years I have found some more in fleamarkets. The plane on the left was missing wings, but I replaced them with a piece of popsicle stick. Now I'm really glad of my small collection, as these make excellent toys to dollhouse children!

Hiljainen yö / Silent night

 Käytän jonkin verran kuviopapereita, enkä paperikoita useinkaan ostele (yleensä rahat menee leimoihin).  Ostin First Editionin Silent Night paperikon, jossa oli minulle mieleistä tunnelmaa, pastellisävyjä ja rauhallisuutta. Tässä yksi paperikosta syntyneitä kortteja. Kranssi on Memory Boxin ja ehdoton suosikkini, jonka ostin kun tiesin sen taipuvan joulukortteihinkin. Osallistun ABC Christmas haasteeseen.

I use designer papers sometimes and don't buy paper pads often (my money usually goes to stamps). But I made exception for the Silent Night paper pad by First Edition, because this pad has the atmosphere I'm looking for: pastel colours and calm. Here is one of the cards created from the paper pad. The wreath is by Memory Box, my favourite and I had to get it as I knew it could be used in Christmas cards too. I enter the 4x4 card challenge of ABC Christmas.

Sinulle on postilaatikko! You've got a mailbox!

Blogi päivittyy hitaanlaisesti ja vanhoja juttuja on vaikka kuinka näyttämättä, mutta hiljaa hyvä tulee, eikös vain? 

This blog gets updated very irregularly and there are several old things not shown, but slowly is good, right?

Pienessä nukkekotikerhossamme syntyi kerran postilaatikoita. Tässä omani balsasta tehty. Aika paksu materiaalihan se on, mutta niin helppo leikata. Tein paperileikkurilla nallen muotoisen sabluunan, joten muu postilaatikko sai valkoisen värin, ja nalle rumman ruskean petsin - selvästi Kuusaman perheen postilaatikko Villa Annaan :) 

Our small dollhouse club made mail boxes ones. I used balsa, which is quite thick material but so easy to cut. I made a bear shape sabloon with a paper punch, so the box could be stained white and brown bear on the front. Clearly a mail box for the Honeysuckles in Villa Anna, don't you agree :)

Lumihiutaleita / Snowflakes

Kokeilin jättää soikean kohdan paperista kohokuvioimatta. Minulla on Rangerin erikoislevyt, jotka mahdollistavat tämän, mutta jälki on parempaa kun kohokuvioi ovaalille reunatkin. Pyyhin kohokuviointia leimasintyynyllä, jotta lumihiutaleet erottuvat paremmin. Leimasin tyhjään tilaan Penny Blackin sillin ja väritin akvarellikynillä. Kulkunen riitti koristeeksi ja osallistun Penny Black and More haasteeseen.

I wanted to try leaving an oval empty space in the middle of embossed panel. I have Ranger special plates, which make this possible. Although the results are better with embossed oval frame added. I stamped Penny Black hedgehog in the middle and coloured with watercolour pencils. I wiped the embossed panel with chalk dye ink pad. I enter the Penny Black and More challenge.

Tähtiä ja pastaa / Stars and paste

Ostin viimeksi Leimailutaivaasta tekstuuripastaa, koska se oli yllättävän edullista. Muutama maski piti myös hankkia, että ainetta pääsi kokeilemaan. Ensimmäiseksi kokeilin yksinkertaisia tähtiä korttipohjaan. Saman näköistä olisi tietysti saanut kohojauheella ja leimalla, mutta onhan tämä eri tuntuinen luonnossa. Tein Cuttlebugilla muutaman tähden koristeeksi ja leimakuva on Penny Blackin. Osallistun Penny Black Saturday haasteeseen.

I bought some modeling paste froma a craft event, it wasn't too expensive to just try it out. I also bought few masks of course. This is my first try: simple stars on a card base. The same look could have been achieved with stamps and embossing powder, but the feel of the texture paste is different. I added a piece of vellum, Penny Black stamped image and some die cut and stamped stars. I enter the Penny Black Saturday challenge.

Helmistä / Beading miniatures

Nukkiskerhoystäväni kanssa kokeiltiin mitä helmistä voi tehdä nukkekotiin. Kuvasta näkyy, että syntyi paljon hajuvesipulloja ja muutama maljakko. Innostuimmepa tekemään pöytävalotkin, varjostimet ovat helmiäispaperia. Ystäväni teki myös kattolampun mutkaputkista ja vaaleanpunaisista lasikukista :)

A friend of mine and I have our own miniature club, and once we used beads. As you can see, several perfume bottles and few vases were created. Some large glass beads inspired us to make table lamps with paper shaders. My friend even made pendant from curved tubes and glass flower beads :)

Kaksi aiemmin tekemääni hajuvesipulloa. Pari kertaa on pitänyt liimailla uudestaankin, kun huonossa kulmassa sattuu tippumaan lattialle.

Here are two perfume bottles I have made before. Although they have been reglued couple of times after falling to the floor in bad angle.

Kanttinauhasta / Edge string creation

Eurokankaassa ja muissa kangaskaupoissa on näkynyt valikoima erivärisiä ja kuviollisia kanttinauhoja. Kuvassa ostamani pari kanttinauhaa, valitsin nämä trikoiset ohuen kankaan vuoksi. Ohuena kankaana ne sopivat nukkekotijuttuihin. Kanttinauhat ovat 2,2 cm leveinä ja avattuina 3,8 cm.

I have seen colourful selection of edge strings in local fabric stores, the strings are printed too. I picked these two, because they are thin fabric and well suited for miniature creations.

Kanttinauha on sopivan leveää Pikkaraisvauvan hameeseen :) Vähän enemmän vaatetta norsuvauva kyllä tarvitsisi, mutta aluksi syntyi tällainen yksinkertainen hame.

The edge string is wide enough for a dress, at least for a critter baby :) I think the Forest Families elephant baby would like a top too, but for now this will do.

Poneja! / My Little Ponys!

Fussy and Fancy Friday haaste pyytää tällä viikolla jotain siivellistä, joten tässä on poneja! Joillain My Little Ponyilla on siivet, eli eikös nekin lasketa siivekkäiksi? Löysin nämä leimat joskus Suomalaisesta Kirjakaupasta ja piti ottaa mukaan. Tein maiseman Stampendouksen ja Artemion leimoilla, kukkaleiman valmistajaa en tiedä.

Fussy and Fancy Friday challenged us to show something with wings, so here are some ponys xD Some My Little Ponys have wings, so they count right? I found some MLP stamps in a book shop, and couldn't leave them there. I made a scene with some Stampendous butterflies, clouds and sun stamps, Artemio forest and unknown flowers. I stitched the paper on the cardbase and covered the sun with glossy accent.

Kerran esittelin Anitan 3D lakan ja Rangerin Glossy Accentin eroja. Tässä vielä tällainen vertailukuva, kuinka Anitan tuotteella päällystetty aurinko on ihan kiva, mutta Glossy Accentillä tehty perhonen on paljon tasaisempi lopputuloksena.

Once I talked about the difference between Anitas 3D Clear Gloss Finish and Rangers Glossy Accent. Here you can see how the sun is covered with Anitas product, but the much smoothier finish on the butterfly was done with Glossy Accent.

Kohokuvioinnista / About dry embossing

Yllättävän yksinkertaisella kohokuvoinnilla voi olla iso vaikutus. Raidoitin korttipohjan Fiskarsin sinisellä kohokuviointilevyllä ja pallopäisellä "kynällä", ja se kruunasi muuten suht yksinkertaisen kohteen. Kohokuviointi onkin haasteena Creative Knockoutsissa. Kehys on tehty Inkadinkadoon leimoilla ja ihana poroleima on Panduron.

Dry embossing is the theme for Creative Knockouts this week, and I feel the simple is the best. This card felt a little bare after embossed & distressed focal image and stamped frame, but few simple dry embossed stripes did the trick. I used a Fiskars texture plate and ball point pen. The gorgeous reindeer image a stamp by Swedish Panduro company, and frame was made with Inkadinkado Holiday Silhouettes stamps.

Neulomisystävät / Knitty friends

Penny Black Saturdayn kuukausittainen haaste koski tällä kertaa ystväyyttä. Kortistani tuli suloisen vaaleanpunainen Papermanian paperilla ja kukilla, hauska nappikoriste on äitini varastoa. Leimakuva on Penny Blackin, jouluinen A gift for you. Mutta neulominen on ajankohtaista muutenkin kuin jouluna, joten oma leimani teki tuttavuutta mattoveitsen kanssa...

Penny Black Saturday challenge for this month was friendship. I used Papermania products for this card, paper and flower. The decorative strip was made with Memory Box die Tessatina border, and the cute button is from my mothers stash. You may wonder about my image, it is Penny Blacks Christmas stamp A Gift For You. Finally a beautiful knitting themed stamp :) But knitting isn't just for Christmas, so I'm afraid my stamp got acquainted with a craft knife...
