Pingviini / Penguin

Whiff of Joy julkaisi aikanaan suloisen kolmen pingviinin setin. Pingujen tonttulakit puhuvat joulun puolesta, muuten leimat sopivat lähinnä ystävänpäiväkortteihin. Tähän korttiin laitoin vain yhden pingviinin talvisella teemalla. Kehys on leikattu Holly Jollyn nesting frame stanssilla. Osallistun ABC Christmas haasteeseen.

Whiff of Joy has a stamp of three lovely penguins holding hearts. Their Christmas hats make it more suitable image for Christmas than Valentines cards, so here one of them is with wintery theme. The background paper is cut with Holly Jolly nesting frame. I enter the ABC Christmas challenge.

Hiljainen yö / Silent night

 Käytän jonkin verran kuviopapereita, enkä paperikoita useinkaan ostele (yleensä rahat menee leimoihin).  Ostin First Editionin Silent Night paperikon, jossa oli minulle mieleistä tunnelmaa, pastellisävyjä ja rauhallisuutta. Tässä yksi paperikosta syntyneitä kortteja. Kranssi on Memory Boxin ja ehdoton suosikkini, jonka ostin kun tiesin sen taipuvan joulukortteihinkin. Osallistun ABC Christmas haasteeseen.

I use designer papers sometimes and don't buy paper pads often (my money usually goes to stamps). But I made exception for the Silent Night paper pad by First Edition, because this pad has the atmosphere I'm looking for: pastel colours and calm. Here is one of the cards created from the paper pad. The wreath is by Memory Box, my favourite and I had to get it as I knew it could be used in Christmas cards too. I enter the 4x4 card challenge of ABC Christmas.

Simppeliä ja poroja / Simple and reindeers

Joulukorteissa yksinkertaisuus on usein tyylikkäintä. Helmiäispahvilla saa vähän näyttävyyttä, näissä korteissa käytin sinistä ja harmaata. Kohokuviointitaskulla sain niihin lumihiutaleet, sininen kartonki vähän kärsi ja näyttää valkoista sisälmystään, harmaata piti maalata valkoisella maalilla. Puisia porohahmoja maalasin myös, ja saivat vähän nauhaa kaulaansa. Muutamalla puolihelmellä tuli lisää eloa kortteihin. Osallistun ABC Christmas haasteeseen.

ABC Christmas challenge is requiring simple cards this week: not many layers, minimal embellishments and quick to make. My suggestion includes wooden reindeer figures, shimmery cardstock, few halfpearls and a bit of thread. I ran the cardstocks through Cuttlebug in a embossing folder, the blue cardstock teared a bit and I painted the silver cardstock with white. I also painted the reindeers and gave him a bit of thread. Few halfpearls finished the job :)

Jouluiloa / Christmas joy

Penny Blackin Stocking Treat leiman siili näyttää mielestäni hyvin tyytyväiseltä, joten olen aina tykännyt kovin tästä leimasta. Leimasin kuvan valmiille kuviopaperille, ja koristelin korttipohjan lumitähdillä. Jouluiloa nauha on Eurokankaasta. Osallistun ABC Christmas haasteeseen.

Joy is the theme for ABC Christmas challenge this week. The hedgehog of Stocking Treat stamp by Penny Black has always looked very joyful and content to me, so I picked her for this challenge. I stamped the image on designer paper piece and stamped snowflakes with red ink on kraft cardstock. The sentiment means "Christmas joy" in Finnish, it's a premade ribbon.

Sinistä joulua / Blue Christmas

Sinisen ja valkoisen yhdistelmä on talvisen näköinen, ja mielestäni myös jouluun sopiva. Eli embossasin valkoisella Panduron ihanan joulukuusen, ja leimasin ja väritin paperin. Reunat koristelin lumitähti-leikkurilla ja koristelin kuusen muutamalla puolihelmellä. Epäsymmetrisesti niitä sirottelin, vaikka kuusi on symmetrinen ;) Osallistun ABC Christmas haasteeseen.

Quick and easy is the theme for ABC Christmas challenge this week. I embossed Panduros scolled Christmas tree to a paper, stamped script with dark blue ink and distressed the paper with lighter blue ink. The edges I punched with a snowflake craft punch, and decorated the tree with colourful half pearls. I would call it easy, maybe quick once you know what to do. But while creating the card I took some time to think the next move, so not so quick then. But I'm quite happy with my card, I think blue and white go well with Christmas.

Pinguja

Viime hetkellä hehdin mukaan ABC Christmas pingviini-haasteeseen. Tämä on Penny Blackin akryylileima, piti yksi Mimi-setti ostaa viime vuonna tämän leiman takia. Tässä eka kokeiluni, ei kovin onnistunut. Pingujen mustaan laitoin mustaa kohokuviolakkaa (Tiimarista), mutta se ei kuivunut niin kauniisti kuin toivoin. Lumiukko ja maa on käsitelty valkoisella flockilla lumen tuntua tuomaan. Taivas on väritetty musteilla suoraan korttipohjaan, kuin myös leimaaminen, joten osallistun Less is More haasteeseenkin.

I'm entering the ABC Christmas penguin-challenge at the last minute. Surprisingly I was only the second to enter with this adorable Penny Black stamp. I had to buy one Mimi set just for this stamp, I don't care for Mimi stamps, but I love animals by Penny Black. I stamped the image and distressed the sky straight on the cardstock, so I enter the clean & simple animal challenge of Less is More challenge. I used black gloss 3D paint for penguins, but it didn't dry as beautifully as I hoped for. I used flock as snow for the snowman and land. 

Koristeet minimissään / Minimum embellishments

Löysin Prismasta tällaisia jänniä korttipohjia, joissa on hopeaisia joulukuvia. Ne näkyvät vain tietyssä kulmassa, kuvaan sain ne kortin yläosaan. En halunnut sitten peittää korttipohjaa, vaan leimasin vain muutaman kuvan. Penny Blackin nallukan tonttulakin koristelin flockilla eli samettisella jauheella. Se käykin ABC haasteeseen tällä viikolla.

I found these awesome cardbases at a local market: they have silvery images on them, you can see it at the top of the card on my image. I didn't want to cover the base, so I just stamped few images on it. The sentiment is Christmas Wishes in Finnish. My only embellishments are flock on the white parts of the Santa hat on the Penny Black bear. So that goes for the ABC Challenge this week: minimum of embellishments.

Poro / Reindeer

Tämä oli ensimmäinen kokeiluni Poppy Stampsin poroleimalla. Suoraan kuviopaperille leimasin poron Versafinella, mutta mustaa piti täydentää tussilla jälkikäteen. Poron kohdalta väritin kuviopaperia valkoisella distress markerilla, jotta siluetti erottuisi paremmin. Koristeeksi laitoin koristeteippiä ja nauhaan pienen kulkusen. Osallistun ABC Christmas haasteeseen, jossa pyydettiin poroja. 

This is my first card with Deer Silhouette by Poppy Stamps. I stamped the image straight on to designer paper (by Dovecraft), but I had to make it blacker with marker pen. I coloured some of the cardstock with Picket Fence Distress Marker for the deer to show better. I used a piece of washi tape and a jingle bell on the bakers twine for decoration. Reindeers are the theme for ABC Christmas challenge.

No onkos tullut joulu

Tässä yksinkertainen joulukortti, jonka tein aikaa sitten. Inkadinkadon enkeli on embossattu, vähän valkoista mustetta levitin ja leimasin Versamarkilla kuusia. Osallistun Challenge up your life ja ABC Christmas haasteisiin.

Today I have one layer Christmas card to show. The Inkadinkado angel is embossed and the some wood images are stamped on the bottom of the card. The sentiment is a sticker and says "Merry Christmas" in Finnish. I enter Challenge up your life and ABC Christmas challenges.

Juokse porosein

Tänään on Nuutin päivä ja meiltäkin on kuusi jo viety pihalle. Mutta joulukortit eivät lopu xD Ajattelin että Nuutin nimipäivään mennessä olisi, mutta tämä on toiseksi viimeinen. Käytin Inkadinkadoon ihanaa poroa ja korttipohjaan leimasin valkoisella musteella Artemion Impressionist Christmasin joulutoivotustekstiä. Osallistun Stampavien, Fussy and Fancy Fridayn, ABC Christmas ja Simon Says Stamp haasteisiin.

This is second last Christmas card to post, in case you are getting tired of them. I used the pretty reindeer stamp from Inkadinkado, and stamped Artemios Christmas greetings on the cardstock. I have winter theme for Stampavie and more, anything goes for ABC Christmas challenge, and snowing for Fussy and Fancy Friday. With spotty snowflakes I can enter also the Simon Says Stamp Challenge xD

Tein tämän kortin Jehkottaren esittelemällä Stampinbackin tekniikkalla, mutta onko se varmasti heidän keksimänsä tekniikka? Ettei löytyisi vaikka Timin kirjasta (The Compendium of Curiosities)? En sitä omista, niin en voi tarkistaa.

In this techinique you stamp your image with black StazOn on glossy paper and let it dry. Then you can apply Distress inks over it, and because the cardstock is glossy, it won't dry for a while. So play around and remove colour with water using different appliers. You can eve use toothbrush for splashes like I did in this card. Do you know the name for this technique? I suspect it could be in The Compendium of Curiosities, but I don't have the book.
