Yggdrasil

Simon Says maanantaihaaste on inspiroitua mytologiasta tai tarinasta. Minua mietitytti skandinaavisen mytologian elämän puu Yggdrasil. Ehkä se oli Inkadinkadoollakin mielessä tätä leimaa suunnitellessa. Leimasin kuvan kuultopaperille vesileimamusteella ja väritin liituväreillä. Käänsin kuvan ympäri ettei värit tahraannu päältä ja kiinnitin kuultopaperin haaraniiteillä taustapaperiin. 

Simon Says Stamps Monday challenge is to use a myth or a story as inspiration. My inspiration is from Norse mythology: Yggdrasil the tree of life. I guess Inkadinkado had something similar in mind when designing the stamp. I stamped the image with Versamark and coloured with chalks for a misty look. I turned the vellum over and attached it with paper fasteners to the background paper.

Mekkoihanuus / Pretty dress

Yksi kaikkien aikojen suosikkileimojani on aina vain Inkadinkadoon elegantti mekko. Kuva ei oikeastaan sovellu värittämiseen, mutta toimii upeasti kohokuvioituna kuultopaperille kuten tässä. Suloisen taustapaperin kanssa koristuksia ei juuri tarvita. Osallistun Simon Says Stamp keskiviikkohaasteeseen.

One of my all time favourite stamps is the elegant dress by Inkadinkado! It's not really suitable image for colouring but works excellent heat embossed on vellum like I have now done. It doesn't need much embellishments with the sweet background paper. I enter the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday celebration.

Yötaivas / Night sky

Palataanpa hetkeksi jouluun. Winter Wonderland haastaa tällä kertaa tekemään joulukortin, jossa on eläin. Eräs lempileimoistani on edelleen Inkadinkadoon ihana poro. Tällä kertaa embossasin poron valkoisella mustalle korttipohjalle ja tein korttipohjasta yötaivaan.

Christmas is still current in the Winter Wonderland challenge where animals are asked this week. The Reindeer from Christmas Silhouettes by Inkadinkado is one of favourite stamps. I embossed him with white embossing powder on black cardbase and turned the cardbase into a night sky. The sentiment means peaceful Christmas in Finnish.

Joulupistoja / Christmas stitches

Ristipistot jatkuivat myös joulukorteissa, että syntyi sopiva kortti nukkekotikerhoystävälleni. Löysin kolme pientä jouluaiheista kuvaa pisteltäväksi, ja kiinnitin ne löyhästi korttiin, että ovat irrotettavissa nukkekodin tauluiksi. Tautapaperi löytyi valmiina, embossasin siihen vain valkoisella Inkadinkadoon lumihiutaleita. Osallistunkin Stampavie and More haasteeseen kortilla.

I continued cross stitches to a Christmas card - I needed one for my dollhouse club friend. I found three suitable small images to make, and I attached the pieces to a card, so she can easily remove them and use in the dollhouse. The background is a designer paper, and I embossed Inkadinkado snowflakes to it. I enter the snowflake challenge of Stampavie and More.

Kohokuvioinnista / About dry embossing

Yllättävän yksinkertaisella kohokuvoinnilla voi olla iso vaikutus. Raidoitin korttipohjan Fiskarsin sinisellä kohokuviointilevyllä ja pallopäisellä "kynällä", ja se kruunasi muuten suht yksinkertaisen kohteen. Kohokuviointi onkin haasteena Creative Knockoutsissa. Kehys on tehty Inkadinkadoon leimoilla ja ihana poroleima on Panduron.

Dry embossing is the theme for Creative Knockouts this week, and I feel the simple is the best. This card felt a little bare after embossed & distressed focal image and stamped frame, but few simple dry embossed stripes did the trick. I used a Fiskars texture plate and ball point pen. The gorgeous reindeer image a stamp by Swedish Panduro company, and frame was made with Inkadinkado Holiday Silhouettes stamps.

Hollantilainen tekniikka / Dutch technique

Löysin kätevän tekniikan siluettikuville: hollantilainen tekniikka. Leimasin Inkadinkado lumiukon StazOn-musteella kiiltävälle tagille, ja annoin kuivua. Seuraavana päivänä levitin Distress mustetta koko tagille, mutta poistin osan veden kanssa ja muutamia yksityiskohtia väritin Distress Markerilla. Tätä täytyy kokeilla uudestaankin. Osallistun Winter Wonderland haasteeseen.

Tags are the theme for Winter Wonderland challenge this week, so I attached mine to a card. I used so called dutch (?) technique: I stamped the Inkadinkado snowman with Staz-On on glossy tag, let dry over night and then applied Distress ink. I removed some of the Distress colour with water, and applied more to details with a Distress Markers. This tehnique is very good for silhouette images :)

Majakka / Light house

Tykkään kovin Inkadinkadoon majakkaleimasta, mutta käytännössä silhuettien käyttäminen korteissa ei ole ollut niin helppoa. Tällä kertaa käsittelin majakan valkoisella kohojauheella kuultopaperille. Kuultopaperin taakse tuli muutama pala värillistä paperia korostamaan majakkaa ja aurinkoa, sekä koko homma kohotarrojen avulla ylös korttipohjasta. Korttipohjalla leikkasin samaan muotoon tyylikkään veneaiheisen kuviopaperin, ja puunumerot on käsitelty valkoisella maalilla. Narupunos on itse tehty. I love the Inkadinkadoo light house image, but have trouble using silhouette images on cards. This time I embossed the image with white on vellum, and added few coloured paper pieces to decorate light house and sun. I found very suitable designer paper with waves and boats, and cut that to suite the extraordinary cardbase. I made the string knot from twine, and painted numbers white. My themes are sailing and boys, so I enter the Cute Card Thursday and Stampavie & more challenges.

Teippikokeilu / Trying washi tape

Less is more haasteessa annettiin luonnos. Pidän luonnoshaasteista kaikkein eniten, joten pitihän sitä osallistua. En ole juurikaan oppinut käyttämään washi teippejä korteissa, mutta tähän ne sopivat hyvin. En ole vieläkään varma vihreän teipin ja Distress ink Milled Lavenderin yhteensopivuudesta, mutta sillä nyt mennään. Suunnittelin tästä ystävänpäiväkortin, joten muodoksi valikoitui sydän Inkadinkado linnun kuvalla. En osaa vielä jättää valkoisia alueita korttiin, joten edes kohokuvioimalla tuli hieman eloa.

Less is more challenged to use a sketch. Sketches are my favourites, so I had to enter. I'm not very good at using washi tapes on my cards, but they seemed suited for this sketch. The green tape and Milled Lavender Distress Ink perhaps don't match very well, but I went with it anyway. The image is an Inkadinkado bird inchie stamp. I didn't feel comfortable with all the white space, so I embossed it.

Someone new, someone little

The Pink Elephant haasteessa pyydetään jotain muuta kuin kortteja, joten esittelempä pari tagia. Tekstit on leimattu suoraan tagiin Inkadinkadoon ruskealla musteella, ja siilit on leikattu toisesta paperista värityksen jälkeen. Väreinä käytin akvarellikyniä ja Distress marker tusseilla.

The Pink Elephant challenge is asking for something other than cards, so let me show you couple of tags. I coloured the images with watercolour crayons and Distress markers, cut them out and attached to the tags. The Inkadinkado sentiments are stamped directly to the tag.

Tagit päätyivät pakettikorteiksi vauvan sukkiin :) Sukat ovat äitini tekemät junasukka-mallilla. Näillä ilahdutin paria ihanaa ystävää.

The tags were attached to baby socks :) My mother knitted them, and I made couple of friends happy with these.

Kukkaloistoa / Flowers

Inkadinkadoolla on tällainen ihana kukkaleimasetti. Se osoittautui parhaimmaksi valkoisella kohojauheella, ja tuputtamalla mustetta ympärille! Jätin korttiin valkoista tilaa leimata teksti, ja muuten leimasin kukat suoraan korttipohjaan. Värit ovat namuja sävyjä Distress musteista. Osallistun The Pink Elephant ja ensimmäistä kertaa Addicted to Technics haasteisiin.

The stamps are from a gorgeous stamp set by Inkadinkado. The flowers are their best here, embossed with white powder and Distress Ink blended around them. I did this directly on the cardbase and left room for the sentiment. I enter the Pink Elephant and Addicted to Technics challenges.

Toiseen versioon valitsin syksyn värejä Distress musteista. Nämä ovat kirkkaampia ja lopputulos on kirkkaampi. Kortti näyttää vähän paljaalta, organzanauha olisi sopinut tähänkin. Osallistun Less is More haasteeseen.

For my second version I picked some Distress Ink autumn colours. These are brighter and the results weren't so blended as I hoped for. But I like the rich orange of Spiced Marmalade. I enter the Less is More challenge, I hope my card has enough clean and simple style.

Koholakasta / About glossy accents

Tämä kortti syntyi ideasta käyttää Stampendousin reunaleimaa kortin alareunassa ja leikata kortin reuna sitä mukaillen. Kortti alkoikin noudattaa vähemmän on enemmän periaatetta, eli suoraan korttipohjaan leimatulla tekstillä ja yhdellä kohotetulla koristeella mennään. Koristeen olen tehnyt itse leimaamalla Inkadinkadoon leiman ja lisäämällä ympyrän päälle koholakkaa (Glossy Accenttia). Perhonen muistuttaakin nyt lähinnä tarraa. Osallistun The Pink Elephant haasteeseen.

This card is based on the idea of stamping Stampendous border stamp on the edge of the card and cut the edge according to the stamped image. Since I stamped directly on the card base, the card is themed less is more. The sentiment is stamped on the card too, and it means greetings with open arms (? I'm not sure how it should be translated). The embellishment is stamped with Inkadinkado stamp and covered with Glossy Accent. It reminds a puffy sticker now. I enter the Pink Elephant challenge.

Sananen vielä koholakoista. Ensimmäisenä ostin Anitan 3D Clear Gloss Finish pullon, ja vasta myöhemmin Inkessentialin oman Glossy Accentin. Näissähän on ihan selvästi eroa! Anitan tuotteen nokka tukkeutuu paljon helpommin, eikä aina kuivu sievästi. Glossy Accent sen sijaan toimii aina, ja sitä voi käyttää liimanakin. Anitan Tacky Gluesta pidän kovasti, mutta näiden tuotteiden kohdalla valitsisin merkkituotteen. Tiedoksi vain, jos joku on miettinyt tätä :)

A word about glossy finishes. I first purchased Anitas Clear Gloss Finish, and recently I bought Inkessentials original Glossy Accent. There is a difference between these products! Clear Gloss Finish doesn't work so smoothly as Glossy Accent does: the tip clocks more easily and it doesn't dry nicely all the time. Glossy Accent works as a glue too. While I love Anitas Tacky Glue, but here its best to buy the original Glossy Accent ;)

Tämä kortti on tehty eräällä hyvälle ystävälle :) Arvelin hänen pitävän sinisestä, joten valitsin tämän kauniin Upikitin paperin. Leikkasin sen korttipohjaa myötäileväksi ja häivetin reunoja ruskealla musteella. Jämistä sain leikkureilla koristeita korttiin. Penny Blackin siilin väritin ja akvarellikynillä ja tervehdys on Inkadinkadon, tosin muokkasin sitä hieman. Taustaan leimasin Inkadinkadon perhosia ja väritin liituväreillä. Osallistun Penny Black and More haasteeseen.

This card was specially designed for a dear friend :) I had feeling she likes blue so I started with this gorgeous Upikit paper with decorated butterfly images. I cut the paper according to my shaped cardbase and lightly blended the edges with brown ink. I punched embellishments of the scraps. The image is cute hedgehog stamp by Penny Black, and I coloured it with watercolour pencils. The beautiful sentiment is by Inkadinkado, although I stamped 'us' instead of 'me' to make fit this occasion. The chalked butterflies on the cardstock are Inkadinkado stamps too. Only blooms are the ones on the basket of the hedgehog, but I enter the Penny Black and More challenge.

Musta kuusi / Black Christmas tree

Tähtäsin kortilla tyylikkyyteen, mutta toisaalta ruskea, musta ja helmiäinen eivät oikein vaikuta jouluväreiltä. Yksityiskohdat ovat ainakin hieno, kuusi om embossattu mustalla ja pienet lumihiutaleet reunoilla ovat vesileimamusteella. Joulu on kuulkaa taas tulossa, ja siihen voi valmistautua Winter Wonderland haasteessa.

I aimed for a classy look with this card, but on the other hand brown, black and pearly aren't really Christmas colours. The Christmas tree is embossed with black and snowflakes are stamped with Versamark. The sentiment means peaceful Christmas in Finnish. Christmas is back in the Winter Wonderland challenge.

Perhosia, perhosia / Butterflies

Tämä kortti alkoi leimaamalla suloinen Bentley Bear pastellisävyiselle kuviopaperille. Picket Fence Distress Marker on oikein kätevä nallen valkaisemiseksi, jotta vähän erottuu taustastaan. Korttipohjaksi valikoitui kraft, siinä näkyy kauniisti vesileimavärillä leimatut Inkadinkadon perhoset. Jotta huomio jäisi kuvalle, tekstinkin leimasin valkoisella musteella. Osallistun Simonin haasteeseen.

This card started with stamping Bentley Bear on designer paper. I coloured him with Picket Fence Distress Marker, and it worked out great! I choose kraft as cardbase to give all attention to the image. I continued the butterfly theme with stamping Inkadinkado images with Versamark on the card. The sentiment is also Inkadinkados and stamped with white StazOn. I enter the Simon Says Stamp challenge.

Haamumainen kevät / Ghostly spring

Haamutekniikka toimii upeasti Inkadinkadon tuumasten kanssa! Leimasin kuvat Versamarkilla kiiltävälle kartongille ja kuivatin. Sitten pyörittelin Distress musteita päälle ja kuva jää näkyviin haamumaisena. Valitsin musteiksi vain muutamaa väriä, että tunnelmasta tulisi kuitenkin maanläheinen ja keväinen. Synttärikortteja pyydetäänkin Creative Knockout haasteessa.

Birthday is the theme for Creative Knockout challenge this week. My birthday card is made with ghost techinique and Inkadinkado inchie stamps. I stamped the images with Versamark on glossy cardstock and dried them. Then I went over with Distress inks, I picked only few colours to make this earthy and spring-themed colour combo.

Perhosia talven keskelle / Butterflies in the middle of winter

Pidetäämpä tauko joulukorteista ja mustasta talvesta, vähän perhosia kehiin. Nämä ruudut ovat ihania Inkadinkadon tuumasia, jotka leimasin Versamarkilla ja embossasin valkoisella. Pyörittelin joitakin Distress musteita väreiksi ruutuihin. Ihania ruutuja :) Osallistun Cute Card Thursdayn haasteeseen.

Let's take a break from all the Christmas cards and black Winter, I want to show you some butterflies. These are beautiful Inkadinkado inchies, which stamped with Versamark and embossed with white powder. Then I coloured them with few Distress inks, tried to keep them simple and harmonic. I just love this look :) The sentiment is an old foam stamp of mine, lovelys scrolls. I enter the Cute Card Thursday challenge (anything goes).

Valkeaa joulua / White Christmas

Valkea joulu toteutui lähinnä joulukorteissa tänä vuonna. Tässä korttipohjassa on kivaa tektuuria, joten pidin koristeet yksinkertaisina. Inkadinkadon kuusen leimasin valkoisella ja embossasin läpinäkyvällä, joten ihan valkeaa siitä ei tullut. Tähdet piirsin hopeatussilla, nauha on organzaa ja joulukuusen puolipalloissa helmiäistä. Osallistun Charisman Cardzin haasteeseen.

I had white Christmas only on cards like these - we still don't have any snow. I stamped the Inkadinkado tree with white StazOn and embossed with clear. The cardstock had nice texture, so card didn't need much decorations. Just a piece of white organza, few drawn stars and couple of half pearls. Anything goes for Charisma Cardz challenge.

Bling bling

Bling tai glitter eivät ole koskaan olleet minun juttuni. Siksi ylitin itseni tällä kortilla! Korttipohja on helmiäishohtoinen, ja tähdet tehty hopeatussilla. Kohojauheella käsitelty Inkadinkadon kuusi ei hohda, mutta koristeeksi tuli pari tekotimanttia. Ostin muuten ensimmäistä kertaa alkuperäistä Glossy accenttia, ja se toimii oikeasti todella hyvin tällaisten pienten juttujen kiinnitykseen. Hopeanhohtoiseen organzanauhaan vielä pieni kulkunen ääntä tuomaan. Bling onkin Simon Says Stamp keskiviikkohaasteena.

Bling or glitter hasn't ever been my thing. So I outdid myself with this card! The cardstock has pearly shine and I drew the stars with silver pen. The white embossed Inkadinkado Christmas tree doesn't shine, but it's decorated with rhinostones. I bought original Glossy accent for the first time, and it works well as adhesive for things like these, by the way. The organza ribbon has silvery shine and I added a little jingle bell for the middle. Bling was asked in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge.

Toinen joulukeiju / Another Christmas fairy

Tein toisen joulukeijun TGFn perjantaihaasteeseen, jonka aiheena on joulutoiveet. Keiju on väritetty suoraan Distress Markereilla, joten varjostuksia ei syntynyt.Taustaan leimasin Inkadinkadon lumihiutalekoukeroita vesileimamusteella, ja tein koristeeksi joulutähtiä leikkureilla. Hyvää joulua tarra on Tiimarista.

The theme of Farm Fresh Friday challenge at TGF is Christmas Wishes. I tuned Flutter Anya into Christmas fairy to make your wishes true :) I stamped Inkadinkado snowflake flourishes  on the cardstock with Versamark, and made poinsettias with punches. The Christmas wishes in Finnish is a sticker.

Quetzal

Tietosanakirjani on lähes unohtunut, joten tartuin tuumasta toimeen. Päädyin vaikeaan kirjaimeen - Q. Mutta löytyihän sieltä sopiva sana: quetzal eli atsteekkien pyhä lintu. Hieroin vähän valkoista akryylimaalia sivulle, että sana erottuisi paremmin. Sitten leimasin Inkadinkadon linnun Versafinen kahdella värillä, vihreällä ja punaisella kuten quetzalit ovatkin.

I have quite forgotten the dictionary challenge, my poor book. I ended up picking a quite hard word - Q. There aren't many things that start with this letter. But I was able to find a good one - quetzal. It's a holy bird of the Aztec. I smeared some white paint to the page, so that the definition would stand out. Then I stamped an Inkadinkado bird with Versafine colours. Quetzals can be green and red, this was as close as I could get to that.
